Hello World!!

An old high school friend gave birth to twins, and when she posted this picture, my heart melted! Shout out to Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas for initiating skin-to-skin in the OR…WITH TWINS! ❤

Elwood & Olivia

Elwood and Olivia made their arrival yesterday just before 1pm.  We were so excited, and although I briefly became terrified of the surgery, the team of surgeons, nurses, pediatricians, and anesthesiologists were excellent.  Zach and I were amazed at their level of care with each of the kids.  Elwood weighed in at 6 lbs. 14 oz. and Olivia was a couple of pounds behind him at 4 lbs. 12 oz.  Both are doing well and we’re so in love with them.  We’ll be here at Seton for a few more days then we’ll be able to bring them home.  We want to thank all of you for the kind words, thoughts and prayers during all of this.  Things couldn’t have gone any better and we can’t wait for all of you to meet them.  Until then, here’s our first photo as a family.

  1. LOVE it! I’m currently on a mission to try and initiate a “gentle section” program in my unit. That’s where they use clear drapes, the mom gets to choose her music that plays in the or. Skin to skin. Etc. I think it will help mamas feel more involved and make the experience feel more like a delivery than an operation!
