The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) just published an awesome article that we can all learn something from: 

Cardiovascular Disease in Pregnancy & Peripartum Cardiomyopathy

Every woman out there – talk to your provider about how you can be as healthy as possible or how you can stay as healthy as possible, especially if you’re pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant. Do not be afraid to ask questions or voice your concerns. If you experienced complications during your pregnancy, such as diabetes or any form of hypertension, postpartum follow-up care is crucial.  As healthcare providers, we are only just realizing how much pregnancy-related complications effect women in the months and years following delivery.
